Help Stop Those Who Want to Stop the Dead Woman

Well, I got this email today asking me to help stop Madalyn Murray O'Hair and get the FCC to reject Petition Number 2493, which O'Hair and her atheist organization have put in front of the FCC to prevent Christian programming over the airwaves. Doctor Dobson wants all good Christians to help stop this threat to our freedom.

I'd love to help, but you see, this email is a hoax. It's been a known hoax for almost ten years (during which time Ms. O'Hair died). I was actually astounded to receive it, as I thought everybody knew this was a hoax.

Here's a good rule of thumb for emails. If you receive one that asks you to forward it on because of something outrageous that it is reporting to you, do yourself, and your potential recipients, a favor. Go visit, do a search on a prominent term in the email, and make sure it's not a hoax. Here is the snopes entry on the O'Hair email.

A public service announcement by your friends at Stones Cry Out.

Thank you! I don't receive many of these e-mails any more, but when I do, I always take the time to do my homework and send a link to a site like to the person (and to anyone else who sent it along, since they're usually too lazy to delete the big long forward chain).

Hey, this site looks nice! I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it in the future.

Thanks Joe. I usually hit "reply all" to put a stop to the email, but I don't go back to previous recipients. The amazing thing about this recent one was that it started January 15, 2005; so, this one was a recent creation.

By the way, if you haven't visited Joe's site, Joe Missionary (, you should do so. Among other things, Joe is an ally in the battle for appropriate worship of God.
