WalMartha

Has it been five months already? Martha is scheduled to be freed from prison next weekend.

Martha Stewart will also be wearing the must-have accessory for the convicted felon on the go: an electronic anklet that will allow authorities to monitor her movements.

After five months in prison in West Virginia, Stewart will be released next weekend to her 153-acre estate in the rolling horse country 40 miles north of midtown Manhattan. There, for another five months, she will serve the home detention portion of her sentence for a stock scandal.
Yikes! That's roughin' it!

My wife is a huge Martha fan; she's also a WalMart fan. I'm neither a Martha fan, nor a frequenter of WalMart - but I am forced to consume products of both vendors (choke choke hack hack). WalMartha gives me the heeber jeebers. They prey on the weak in the name of capitalism; and do it with a smile and feel good slogans. No, Martha. In reference to WalMart - it's NOT a good thing.

You sound like a Vermont hippie. If you would pay mom-and-pop prices for mom-and-pop selections there wouldn't be a WalMart.

My wife decries the decline a fabric stores for home sewers. But she (like almost all the other home sewers) only shops clearance sales.

A market is a market is a market.

Ok seamstresses. I didn't look at the word until I read the post. Egg on face.

Why not sow a little grace and mercy on Walmart and Martha instead of your judgmental attitudes toward them. There are Christians that work for Walmart - you know? And are blessed for being there.

So, if you really feel the way you do, keep quiet and shop at Target.

I'm sorry you took it that way Larry. I understand there are good people that work for these organizations, but I truly do think the corporations behind them are not at all good. God has his remnant in most industries and instutions, but that does not mean that they are good.

On a related note: From what I understand of the case and of insider trading in general, I believe Martha Stewart was screwed over. Martha's problem was that she wasn't as universally loved as Oprah, and people wanted to see her knocked off her pedestal. I didn't care for Martha either, but I don't think lack of a winning personality is a felony.
