An Important Matter
I noticed yesterday that we had someone reach SCO by doing a google search on the matter of baseball being better than football.
We thank all our readers for visiting this site, and we hope you continue to do so. Yet let it known from this day forward that while baseball is fine American game with many noble attributes, football is the greatest game ever invented by man. Within that framework, college football is superior to professional football. To that end, I cast my vote for the greatest American whose public life did not revolve around a political, religious or ideological position.

I like football and all, but the fact that you (and I'm sure many others) prefer watching inferior players (college) over superior players (pros) would seem to me to rule out football being the greatest game.
Baseball has many, many advantages over football.
One such advantage is that fact that in baseball, every time someone hits a home run, your immediate reaction is not, "Is there a flag on the field?"

There is divergence on the SCO team on this topic, for I recognize that baseball, though tarnished in recent years by greed and selfishness, remains the American sport. I enjoy sport, but nothing compares to the greatest of the true national pasttime.
I wrote the Baseball is Better than Football post on February 15. I recommmend visiting the Bear Bryant site, but must disagree with Matt on his larger point!

I must respectfully disagree with Matt on this one. It must be because he lives in Alabama that he has this bias towards football. While I like football (college over pro any day), baseball is still a far better game. All you have to to do is consult Thomas Boswell's 99 Reasons Why Baseball is Better than Football.
